We are introducing Adult Pilates to our timetable from 17th September, with our new Pilates teacher, Amber O’Reilly. The classes will be held at Bournville Village Primary School on Tuesdays at 19:30-20:15.
Here’s a little introduction from Amber herself:
“First of all, I am so excited and honoured to be running Pilates classes at Cashmore School of Dance.
My name is Amber and I am a former, professionally trained dancer who obtained a full scholarship to train professionally at The Hammond School. Prior to this, I had gained a place at Birmingham Ormiston Academy and trained on their two year dance programme. I have been involved within the fitness industry for six years now – two of those teaching Pilates.
What drew me most towards Pilates was the fact it has many similar principles to ballet. Pilates is focused on alignment, stability, mobility and mind to body co-ordination – to be able to perform dynamic movements with control but also fluidity. As dance is primarily unilateral, Pilates had made me much more aware of how to engage muscle groups but to also lengthen within my own dance practise. This is what makes Pilates and dance look a lot easier than what it is!
Having also completed a degree in Sports and Exercise Science, I love the physiology behind exercise and so this adds to my love of teaching Pilates.
I have worked with many clients – of all ages and abilities as well as pre and post natal. I love to witness those who attend my classes improve each week and experience the benefits of Pilates within their day to day lives. I am very much looking forward to teaching those at Cashmore School of Dance for students to experience the benefits of Pilates, just like I did!”
We are delighted to welcome Amber to the CSD team! She brings incredible experience and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait for you to meet her.
